Watches & Wonders 2022 | New TAG Heuer Watches
TAG Heuer returns to the spotlight at Watches & Wonders 2022 with more bold and sporty co-creations, and we cannot wait to talk you through them. Introducing the new TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Limited Edition, Monaco Gulf Special Edition and Aquaracer Professional 300 Orange Diver - plus more.
TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Limited Edition
Boasting a powerful design that’s sure to make a statement, this new timepiece emphasises the racing side of the sporty Porsche Carrera. And what better time than the start of the Formula 1 season to launch a race-inspired watch?!
For all you motorsport fans, or Swiss watch fans alike, the new TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche certainly makes a lasting impression. So, buckle up, it’s lights out and away we go…
The ultimate in sportiness
One of the details we’re loving the most is Porsche’s racing yellow (which is reserved for the sportiest of its vehicles) is incorporated throughout the watch, including the Porsche logo, bezel, lacquer in the crown, dial and second hand. And what’s even cooler is that the Super-LumiNova glows yellow in the dark.
Contrasting against an all-black background to reinforce the brightness of the yellow, the black design of the watch is showcased within various textures. We’ll start with the case which has been given the highest quality black treatment possible; diamond-like carbon, which boasts an elegant deep colour and unfailing resistance. Moving onto the black dial and a texture inspired by the metallic bodywork of cars can be found, which showcases a slightly glittery effect.
Finally, the two sub dials boast a black asphalt-effect which takes inspiration from the dial of the previous TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph that was created last year. And they’re not the only design codes that have been influenced by the 2021 watch…
A lasting legacy
On the new model, you’ll discover a redesigned oscillating mass which pays homage to the famous Porsche steering wheel. Clearly visible through the Sapphire glass case back, it’s marked with “Porsche” and “TAG Heuer” in black and yellow finishes, bringing a perfect harmony to the design of the watch.
The textile inspired leather strap with double stitching inspired by the seat upholstery of Porsche cars returns, in an even more spectacular incarnation. However, on this limited edition, the yellow stitching and lining provides a dramatic contrast with the black leather. Not to mention the leather itself has been treated to produce a technical fabric effect and stunning visual appearance.
Powering the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche is the Calibre Heuer 02. A movement manufactured entirely in-house at the TAG Heuer grounds in Chevenez, it consists of 168 parts including a column wheel and vertical clutch, providing exceptional performance and an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
Limited to just 1,500 pieces, the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Limited Edition is engraved with “One of 1,500” and is proudly displayed in a custom-made black and yellow box. Coming soon to Beaverbrooks.
TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf Special Edition
Staying on the subject of race watches and the legend is back in the form of a Special Edition. Boasting a new and refined design, the TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf Special Edition is an icon in the Swiss watch world, and for the first time ever it’s equipped with the in-house Heuer 02 movement.
Iconic colours
Iconic in the world of racing, the Gulf brand boasts an iconic vibrant blue and vivid orange which adorned the teams that it sponsored. So, for the 2022 edition, it only seemed right that the watches design would be based on the three famous colours.
But this time in a more contemporary colour combination: the special dark blue, turquoise, and orange.
The three colours are present on the minute sub-counters at 3 o’clock – something that’s never been done before, with another premiere that sees a totally white Gulf logo on the dial. With these new elements and a little twist, this new Monaco Gulf becomes all the more unique.
To complete the sporty but sophisticated look of the watch, the strap is made with perforated blue calfskin leather and an orange lining. Although the strap has the typical perforation made especially for the Monaco Gulf editions, the holes now have different sizes, a reflection of the design originally fitted to Monaco models in the 1970s, bringing a touch of the past to this Special Edition timepiece.
Famous finishing touches
Emphasising the elegance of the watch is an opaline sunray brushed dial, with the 12 o’clock index replaced by the number “60” – polished and rhodium plated - as a nod to the racing number on the Porsche Gulf racing cars.
On the back of the TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf Special Edition, the oscillating mass and column wheel has been personalised with a special engraving that matches the Gulf orange pantone.
Available from May 2022, this exciting new timepiece is coming soon to Beaverbrooks so keep your eyes peeled! It’s definitely not one to miss.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Orange Diver
Making a colourful entrance to Geneva, say hello to the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Orange Diver. Joining the Aquaracer Professional 300 collection unveiled in 2021, this new timepiece shares the same design codes for a luxury tool watch that brings out the adventurous side of every watch enthusiast.
Orange is the new black
An important colour for those who are close to the water, it’s no surprise that the colour orange was chosen to expand the Aquaracer Professional 300 collection. Our Head of Luxury Brands, Bruce, predicted bold colours to make their way onto luxury watch dials at Watches & Wonders, and TAG Heuer have certainly brought us colourful.
With a fine brushed and polished 43mm case in stainless steel, the white tip on the seconds hand and indexes contrasts beautifully for a timepiece that makes quite the statement.
Famous design codes
Offering a 12-sided uni-directional rotating bezel with scratch-resistant black ceramic ring shaped for the perfect grip, the crown is also protected to avoid any accidental damage. And like all the other Aquaracer Professional 300 timepieces, this watch lets you explore under water up to 300m.
Taking the sophisticated fine adjustment system strap from its predecessors, the bracelet length can be extended or reduced by up to 1.5cm, enabling you to resize the bracelet for any occasion and under any climatic conditions. Powered by TAG Heuer’s Calibre 5 movement, the new Orange Diver boasts up to 38 hours power reserve and quick set date.
Thanks to its bright colour, technical features and bold design, the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Orange Diver is the perfect companion for all adventures – and one to watch in the next few weeks as it’s coming soon to Beaverbrooks.
TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma
TAG Heuer have unveiled yet another ground-breaking timepiece at Watches & Wonders - this time featuring innovative Diamant d’Avant-Garde technology. It’s truly breathtaking.
Marking a milestone
The TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma marks a major milestone both in the company and luxury watch industry thanks to its technical disruption, play of light through materials, and versatility of lab-grown diamonds. And what better model to choose for pushing the boundaries than one of the most iconic of all: the Carrera.
“Innovation and redefining frontiers is in our DNA. With the introduction of the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma, we want to expand the possible palette and designs for diamond watches and diamonds in general, and create a new and breathtaking vision of mastering carbon and diamond design as well as cutting-edge light effects” - Frédéric Arnault, SEO of TAG Heuer.
A striking aesthetic
So, what does it look like? Striking lab-grown diamonds are set in the sandblasted aluminium 44mm case, but the polycrystalline diamond dial is one of the most incredible parts of this new and unique watch. This diamond effect is a sum of crystals being grown as one, generating yet another one-diamond morphology.
And the diamonds don’t stop there. The 11 indexes are crafted in white gold and set with (you guessed it!) a diamond each. The TAG Heuer logo with “Carrera” printed in black rounds up this sparkling dial. Moving on and contrasting beautifully against a black ceramic polished bezel is the crown, which is entirely executed in diamond, whilst the two pushers on each side of the crown have been embellished with a black DLC coating, bringing a refined matt touch to the watch.
The heart of the watch
Beneath the dial, and at the very heart of the watch, you’ll find the Heuer 02 Tourbillon Nanograph movement. Entirely Swiss-made in-house, this movement offers a 65-hour power reserve in a unique version especially developed for the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma. This special edition has been extensively hand-finished and features the oscillating weight in the form of the TAG Heuer shield.
Symbolising the avant-garde work in the purest TAG Heuer DNA, this watch is definitely one to add to the wish-list.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 1000 Superdiver
We’ve already touched on the Orange Diver, but after Frédéric Arnault’s key speech, we just have to touch on this new model. Back and better than ever, say hello to the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 1000 Superdiver.
Born for the deep
The ultimate luxury dive watch, this is the first timepiece from TAG Heuer which homes the calibre TH30-00 produced by Kenissi Manufacture SA - one of the most highly regarded movement manufacturers in the world. This new calibre is manufactured exclusively for TAG Heuer and begins an important chapter for the history of the brand, bringing even better reliability and durability to the table.
Just like we’ve seen with the Orange Diver, it’s no coincidence that the colour orange dominates the new watch. Seen on the hands and bezel, it creates easy readability whilst adventuring the deep depths. Afterall, it is the very colour of maritime safety and opposes the blue of the ocean on the colour wheel, meaning it can be quickly spotted at sea. To further enhance the visibility, the highest grade of Super-LumiNova, SLN Grade X1, has been applied.
An icon of its time
Launched in 1982, the 1000m Diver was a pioneer ahead of its time. Now designed with a larger 45mm case and 15.75mm thickness, this timepiece is one of the slimmest in the deep dive watch category. Made for the Kings and Queens of the sea, it’s a watch that definitely doesn’t crack under pressure, allowing you to explore extreme depths and rises to any challenge – it simply goes above and beyond.
Made entirely from grade 5 titanium and boasting a more substantial crown protector, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 1000 Superdiver is even more durable than before, and certainly a timepiece to look out for if you’re into deep sea diving.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph
Last, but by no means least, TAG Heuer’s final launch for Watches & Wonders is the Solargraph - a movement developed and produced exclusively for the Swiss watch brand.
TAG Heuer’s first ever solar-powered watch, this new timepiece only needs two minutes in full sunlight to keep the watch running for a whole day. And not just that, but when it’s fully charged, the watch can run for up to six months. Incredible, right?
Made for the outdoors
The perfect companion for any outdoor adventurer, the new solar movement allows the watch to stand out whatever the surrounding light condition; from the crack of dawn to nightfall.
But the sun doesn’t just power the movement of the watch, it also lightens the Super-LumiNova elements of the watch such as the bezel, dial and hands.
Giving this watch a truly unique effect like no other, the blue and green color is reminiscent of the aurora borealis that light up the nights above the Artic Circles - a beautiful nod to the outdoor philosophy of the Aquaracer.
With an extended warranty of up to five years, this impressive new timepiece will be available to shop this October 2022, so keep your eyes peeled!
