Watches and Wonders 2022 | Our Highlights

Now our luxury watch experts are back from the biggest event in the luxury watchmaking world, we’re bringing you their insider knowledge on the exciting new releases.

With brands like TUDOR, TAG Heuer and Oris on board, we’ve been waiting with anticipation for exclusive new products to be revealed. Was it worth the anticipation? Absolutely. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at what Bruce, our Head of Luxury Watches, has experienced.

Colourful creations

Before Bruce flew to Geneva, he predicted lots of colour – and he was totally right. A huge watch trend for this year, more luxury watch brands are experimenting with vibrant hues for timepieces that stand-out amongst the crowd.

From the brands we’ve seen so far, I’m predicting lots of coloured dials and coloured straps. As we’ve spoken to the brands about it, they’re wanting to add excitement and life back into the product launches.”

We’ve seen blue and green take the lead in watch dial colours, but at Watches & Wonders 2022, orange seems to be the new black. The new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Orange Diver, and Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 boast tangerine-inspired dials for a look that makes a stunning statement.

Lots of limited editions

It wouldn’t be Watches & Wonders without limited edition timepieces, and we have seen quite a few so far…

We always love special editions and in particular limited editions. Customers love to have something that they know is a little bit different, often there’s stories behind. The launch of limited editions really does create a lot of excitement, storytelling, and uniqueness.”

One that really stands out for us is the Hublot Square Bang All Black. Not only is it a new case shape for the Swiss watch brand, but the dial is skeletonised so you can see the famous UNICO movement, for a truly mesmerising finish. You can quite literally get lost in time. Limited to just 250 pieces, it’s the only limited edition from the new Square Bang collection - this watch is certainly a rarity.

We can’t talk about limited editions without mentioning the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche, too. This special timepiece emphasises the racing side of the sporty Porsche Carrera, with bursts of yellow throughout the all-black design. Limited to just 1,500 pieces, it’s definitely a race-inspired watch for all you Formula 1 fans.

New GMT functions

We’ve seen quite a few brands introduce GMT functions to their timepieces at the event this year. If you’re not sure what GMT means, it’s where multiple time zones can be displayed on your watch; usually your local time and your home time.

And if anyone is going to master this mechanism, it’s TUDOR. The brand-new TUDOR Black Bay Pro is compact, robust and sporty, and features their Manufacture Calibre MT5652 with built-in GMT function. Celebrating and reflecting on the technical TUDOR watches throughout history, the 24-hour ‘Snowflake’ hand stands out in yellow.

The new Parmigiani Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante makes this mechanism simple-to-use, displaying it elegantly on the dial with two superimposed hour hands - one in rhodium-plated gold and the other in rose gold. Plus, in true Parmigiani luxury style, the function itself takes detailing even further and homes a 22ct rose gold micro-rotor.

With so many exciting new timepieces and trends for 2022, we can’t wait to see these watches first-hand - all of which are coming soon to Beaverbrooks.

These new releases have got us in the mood for more! You can visit our Watches & Wonders hub for information on all the brand announcements and more luxury watch launches.
