Our Favourite Love Stories From Lockdown
We’re all for sharing the love as you know, so we set out on a mission to discover your most romantic Lockdown Love Stories to show that love is all you need - and that it can definitely still happen even in the hardest of times.
From working together to virtual dates, so many lovely stories were shared with us but we just had to share our top three loved up couples and how they met, starting with our winners Josh and Steph…
Josh & Steph
Josh met Steph, a nurse, back in March last year when he started his new job working as a bed operative that assisted nurses at Derriford hospital. They were both working 12-hour shifts, four to five times a week alongside each other so started talking hobbies and what they liked to do outside of work – that’s when they both realised they had the same passion for horse riding, and it took off from there.
Josh says “Once the first lockdown was over, we met outside of work, I took her to the beach, and it was there under shooting stars in the night sky we just looked at each other and that was it. I knew she was the one!”.
Now six months later, they live together after successfully isolating with each other back in November and can’t wait to spend the rest of their lives together. Definitely a true love story.
Anna & Jonny
Another romantic story that blossomed during lockdown was Anna from London, and Jonny from Bath, who met on a zoom call last July and have messaged each other every day since!
Lockdown and living in different cities have made it very difficult for them to properly date, so they have only managed to see each other in person three times - their first date was over summer when Anna visited Jonny in Bath. We love what they got up to that day; starting with a run together, they then watched the FA Cup Final in the pub and ended the date with a takeaway pizza in the park - how perfect.
Their following date was even more romantic (and inventive on Jonny’s part!) – he sent Anna a postcode to go to on her way home from work which turned out to be her local M&S. He then transferred over some money for a dine in meal which they then cooked together and ate over video call. All very 2020 – we love the ingenuity!
Anna says, “We’ve had to virtual date for 6 months (wine tasting, quizzes, dinner, escape rooms) and can’t wait to be ‘let out’ so we can spend real time together!”, we can’t wait for you both either.
Allan & Diane
Our next love story is from Allan and Diane. At the start of March last year, Allan travelled to Tenerife with his parents and son for a couple of weeks to train for a charity cycle and walk on Mount Teide when Spain went into lockdown.
All flights were cancelled meaning Allan was stuck over there unable to leave the house, and that’s when he decided to try online dating again. He matched with Diane – a respiratory nurse who works at Queen Elizabeth hospital in Glasgow – and spoke every day for four months until they met for the first time in July where Allan cooked her a meal at home. From their first date, they met up another three times that week (Allan said Diane must have really liked his fajitas!).
When a second lockdown was rumoured in August, Allan decided to ask Diane to move in with him, but it doesn’t stop there. Christmas time came around and Allan popped the question!
When’s the wedding you ask? Allan says, “We are due to be married on the 2nd of July, less than a year from the first time we met each other”, and the rest is history.
Whether you’re single and loving it or looking for love yourself, we hope these lockdown romances have put a smile on your face. They certainly did for us.
