Our Lasting Relationships With Charity & How To Get Involved In Your Communities
It’s not just diamonds that we hold very close to our hearts you know. We’re incredibly passionate about making a positive difference to the world we live in too. In celebration of International Day of Charity, we’re shining a spotlight on our amazing Beaverbrooks family and the many ways we support so many charities.
From donating, to fundraising and volunteering, here’s just some of the charity work we’ve been taking part in recently and some top tips on how you can get involved too…
How we support charities
Supporting our local communities has always been a big passion of ours. Here’s some of the ways we do so…
Every year our store teams and departments are given a donation of £100 per person to give to a local charity of their choice.
We support over 250 different charities every year! Whether it’s through payroll giving, volunteering, fundraising or donating, if we can help, we will.
45% of Beaverbrooks colleagues donate to charities through payroll giving.
20% of Beaverbrooks’ retained profits are donated to charity.
We have a dedicated charity team who support our charity work.
All colleagues are given two paid days to volunteer each year.
Our long lasting relationships
We’ve built meaningful and personal relationships through our charity work and have met incredible people who have become friends through giving our time. To say we’re proud of our Beaverbrooks family is an understatement. It’s because of our amazing people that we’re able to give so much back to our community and here’s just a handful of them…
Ways we’re volunteering
Natalie, Digital Marketing
“Each Sunday I spend a few hours at my local RSPCA, walking and socialising with the resident dogs. I love feeling like I’ve made a difference. Beaverbrooks have been so supportive, matching donations I’ve raised and providing funding for an on-site incubator!”
Denise, Customer Service & Sales
“I have been volunteering for the Samaritans since 2019 and do a weekly shift answering callers in need. I got involved because I felt I could use some of the training I’ve had though working at Beaverbrooks to give something back. It feels good to know we are there for people who are struggling and just want someone to listen to them.”
Ned, Exeter Store
“As a team we have been supporting Force Cancer Charity for four years. During this time, we have been able to build a strong connection and support their objectives. We have worked in the local charity shop, packed cream teas and ran marathons!”
Kate, Learning & Development
“Having experienced a personal loss to suicide I wanted to do something to prevent another family from experiencing the heartbreak of this. I attended a two-day training session to enable me to support those feeing suicidal and have used this once with success, fortunately.”
Gillian, Replenishment
“I volunteer in the Blackpool RNLI shop on Saturday mornings and I love it. I am very proud of the work I do for the RNLI and in 2019 myself and Mark accepted a certificate and plaque from the Regional Fundraising Manager in recognition of our support to them.”
Lizzie, People Support & Recruitment
“On weekends I often volunteer at Mustard Tree’s centre in Ancoats, either in their Food Club or Community Shop. When I moved to Manchester it was important for me to feel like I could support the local community and I was so grateful for Beaverbrooks Charity Team pointing me in their direction.”
Charities we support through payroll giving
Sarah, Romford Store
“I have chosen to donate to two amazing charities; Make a Wish and Great Ormond Street Hospital. These charities do so much to support the happiness & Welfare of children. I love that I can help make a difference through Payroll Giving.”
Sarah, Content
“I donate to Mermaids, a charity which supports transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children, and I love being able to make a positive difference (however small) through Payroll Giving. It’s even better that my donation is matched by Beaverbrooks.”
Sam, Chester Store
“I have donated to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Chester through Beaverbrooks’ Payroll Giving after they looked after my brother-in-law 21 years ago. It makes me proud to work for Beaverbrooks, a company that supports and encourages me to help others.”
