The collaboration between TAG Heuer and Ayrton Senna started back in 1988 and continues to be just as iconic today. As always, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection ticks the box for a professional sports watch; worn by many champion racing drivers, it’s the perfect collection for this sporty special edition to join. The signature red
Working closely with the Senna Foundation and their design codes, the elegant mix of red, anthracite and black creates a motorsport-inspired look which ties in nicely to Ayrton Senna’s original watch. Starting with the famous red; red lacquer can be seen in the 2 o’clock pusher, crown and at 12 o’clock in the double S, which is (of course) Senna’s iconic logo.
The sub dials and date window are also adorned with red touches whilst the dial boasts a beautiful sunray-brushed anthracite effect. We especially love the black ceramic bezel which has the number 400 engraved as a reference to the symbolic 400km/h speed that has never been reached again in Formula 1.
Famous S/EL bracelet
Standing for ‘sports elegance’, the S/EL bracelet was first released by the Swiss watch brand in 1987 on the TAG Heuer S/EL Chronograph watch. Featuring a distinct S-shaped design, this particular watch was a favourite of Ayrton Senna who made it famous thanks to his own that showcased a gold link and leather tan strap. Fast forward to the present day and on the new special edition, this highly shock-resistant bracelet has a folding clasp with driver extension to fit over the sleeve of a racing suit.
Driven by precision
Embodying Ayrton Senna’s quest for excellence and performance, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition Watch is equipped with the in-house Calibre 16, an automatic movement with power reserve of up to 42 hours. The movement is protected by a stainless-steel screw-down case back and for a sentimental finishing touch, it’s engraved with Senna’s iconic helmet and “SENNA SPECIAL EDITION”.
