Ten Most Famous Queen Elizabeth II Jewellery Looks

Ten Most Famous Queen Elizabeth II Jewellery Looks

On the 6th February 2022, Queen Elizabeth II became the first British Monarch to reach a Platinum Jubilee. And with the four-day celebrations fast approaching (2nd June if you didn’t already know), we’re taking a look back at her most famous jewellery.

The Queen’s magnificent jewels will go on display this summer at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh to mark her 70-year reign, and to celebrate this major historic event, we’re showing you how to get the most royal look yet - Her Majesty herself!

We’ve also created our very own platinum diamond pendant and earrings to mark this special occasion – both of which are discounted to £1,952 during the Jubilee weekend to honour the year The Queen acceded the throne, so you’ll forever be reminded of this momentous event.

A Timeline Of The Queen’s Jewellery

From the most spectacular diamond tiara’s to the prettiest pearls, we’re obsessed with the sparkle from The Queen’s jewellery collection. And with 2022 being the year of statement style, it’s the perfect time to rock the royal look. Ready to be dazzled?

1. The Queen’s engagement ring

Let’s start at the very beginning when Phillip Mountbatten proposed to Princess Elizabeth in 1947. One of Her Majesty’s smallest piece of diamond jewellery but undoubtedly one of her most sentimental pieces, Prince Philip designed the engagement ring himself with diamonds that came from his mother’s tiara.

Crafted in a polished platinum band, the ring boasts a 3-carat solitaire diamond which is shouldered by five smaller stones. For a meaningful and romantic touch, the Duke then had the remaining diamonds from the tiara made into a pretty bracelet as a wedding gift.

Worn next to her wedding ring which is made in Welsh gold, Prince Phillip had the inside of the band inscribed with a secret message - so secret that even those closest to the monarch don’t know. Our Once Platinum Diamond Three Stone Ring and 18ct Gold Ladies Wedding Ring will give you a similar look to that of The Queen’s.

2. The Queen Anne & Queen Caroline Pearls

Let’s fast forward a few months to when Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip got married and reminisce on Her Majesty’s stunning wedding jewellery. Her ‘something borrowed’ was Queen Mary’s Russian Fringe Tiara, so the rest of her wedding jewellery had to make just as much of a statement.

Resembling a double-stranded pearl necklace, The Queen wore two pearl necklaces together on her wedding day - the Queen Anne necklace, belonging to Queen Anne herself and made up of 46 pearls, and the slightly bigger Queen Carolina necklace, which is made up of 50 pearls, and belonged to (you guessed it) Queen Caroline.

Create the look with our Silver Freshwater Cultured Pearl Necklaces in lengths 55cm and 45cm for The Queen’s double-strand layered look.

3. The Queen’s Coronation Necklace

Queen Elizabeth was coronated a year after she acceded the throne in 1953. On the day, she wore the famous Lahore Diamond Necklace which was originally created for Queen Victoria in 1858 by her husband Prince Albert. Known as the most expensive necklace in the world, it boasts a whopping 161 carats with nine of the larger stones weighing between 8 and 11 carats, and the Lahore Diamond pendant weighing 22.5 carats.

Fun fact: this diamond necklace has been worn by queens for every coronation after Queen Victoria.

For a statement necklace look similar to Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation necklace, go for our Silver Cubic Zirconia Pear Halo Necklace. Pair it with our 9ct White Gold Cubic Zirconia Pear Drop Earrings for the finishing look.

4. The Brazilian Aquamarine Parure

Gifted to her by the people of Brazil for her coronation, the Brazilian Aquamarine Parure is made up of diamonds and aquamarine gemstones in an emerald cut with the uprights on the tiara crafted as detachable so they can be worn as brooches.

You can get the emerald-cut aquamarine look with our 18ct White Gold Aquamarine Halo Ring, which is surrounded by a sparkling crown of diamonds for a royal finish. Or opt for the Swarovski Millenia Octagon Cut Blue Crystal Earrings for a nod to the baby blue hue.

5. Grand Duchess Of Vladimir Tiara

One of The Queen's favourite tiaras, the Grand Duchess of Vladimir Tiara – otherwise known as the Lover’s Knot Tiara – is crafted with dazzling diamonds and pearls in a looped design. The tiara was purchased in 1921 by Queen Mary, who bought it from the daughter of the Grand Duchess Vladimir, and eventually passed it down Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth is known to wear her tiara with pearl and diamond jewellery to match, and we love the beautiful pear-shaped drop earrings she’s paired with a chunky diamond bracelet in this photo. You can get the look with our Silver Cubic Zirconia Freshwater Cultured Pearl Drop Earrings and Swarovski Tennis Deluxe Silver Tone Bracelet.

6. The Victorian Suite of Sapphire & Diamond

Purchased by King George VI as a wedding present for the then-Princess Elizabeth, the Victorian Suite of Sapphire & Diamond Set was created in 1850 and is made up of beautiful oblong sapphires and diamonds. Over the years, the Queen has changed and added to the suite – shortening the necklace at the beginning of her reign in 1952 and removing the largest sapphire in 1959 to make a brooch.

For a beautiful blue sapphire look like the Queen’s, our 9ct White Gold Diamond Sapphire Drop Earrings showcase the same pear-shaped design for a regal style. Whereas our Silver Cubic Zirconia Halo Drop Earrings are truly eye-catching.

7. The Japanese Pearl Choker

Moving on to 1975 and when the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh made their first ever state visit to Japan. Upon arrival, she received a set of the finest cultured pearls from the Japanese government which she had set into a four-stranded pearl choker with central diamond clasp. Made by Garrard & Co, the Crown Jeweller, this choker has made an appearance on Princess Diana and Kate Middleton throughout the years.

We’re absolutely loving the collaboration between chokers and pearls as they’ve become a huge trend for this year (and beyond), and you can get the look with this Graziella Pearl Ladies Choker from the Queen of fashion herself, Vivienne Westwood. Complete the look with our Silver Cubic Zirconia Freshwater Cultured Pearl Earrings.

8. Crown Amethyst Suite of Jewels

One of the oldest sets of jewellery in the royal collection, the Crown Amethyst Suite of Jewels is made up of a diamond brooch, earrings and necklace and was originally owned by Queen Victoria’s mother, the Duchess of Kent. Showcasing a sophisticated deep shade of purple, this demi-parure is rarely seen in public, with only the brooch making multiple appearances.

Boasting a beautiful pear-shaped design, you can get a subtle version of The Queen’s amethyst jewellery look with our 9ct White Gold Diamond Amethyst Pendant or these Coeur De Lion Crystal Drop Earrings.

9. Cambridge Emeralds & Delhi Durbar Parure

Created in anticipation of the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary at a special Durbar in Delhi, the Cambridge Emeralds seen in this beautiful parure came from Adolphus, the Duke of Cambridge, who was the seventh son of King George III.

Inherited from her grandmother Queen Mary, the Delhi Dunbar Parure boasts elegant emeralds surrounded by dazzling diamonds for a truly stunning look. Go green like the Queen with our 18ct White Gold Diamond Emerald Halo Pendant or our 9ct White Gold Green Cubic Zirconia Halo Earrings.

10. The Crown Ruby Necklace

Designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria, the Crown Ruby Necklace was inherited by Queen Elizabeth II after her mother passed away in 2002. Originally set with opals, Queen Alexandra chose to have those stones replaced with stunning, blood-red rubies at the turn of the twentieth century.

You can get the stunning ruby red with our 18ct White Gold Diamond Ruby Halo Pendant or 9ct White Gold Diamond Ruby Pendant and feel just like a royal.
