One To Watch | Bremont Hawking Limited Edition
British watch brand Bremont have launched their 10th limited edition – and to mark this historic moment they’ve created a collection of watches which commemorate the remarkable scientist Professor Stephen Hawking.
Known for their precise, reliable and durable chronometers, Bremont have worked closely with the Hawking family to bring us the Bremont Hawking Limited Edition, a completely unique and intricate collection of watches that celebrate Hawking’s fascinating relationship with time.
So, let’s discover more about this iconic collection and the life of the British scientist who introduced us to the universe and beyond…
Cosmo case back
It doesn’t get much better than having part of the universe on your wrist! The chronometer has been designed with parts of meteorite which can be seen at the centre of the hand-finished closed case back. Not only that, a drawing of the stars from the Oxford night sky the date Hawking was born is engraved around it.
Sentimental detailing
Part of Hawking’s desk (his most treasured possession) have been inlaid into the back of the watch as 4 wooden discs to reflect planets for a super sentimental touch. How amazing is it knowing you now own pieces of the desk in which Hawking contemplated the mysteries of the universe at?!
Piece of history
His famous seminal research paper from 1979, “The ‘Nuts’ and ‘Bolts’ of Gravity”, is the original paper in which the watch’s serial number is printed on - a super cool talking point.
Behind all the sentimental detailing and historic touches are the nuts and bolts of the watch itself – the unique BE-33AE movement with a 42-hour power reserve.
Limited edition collection
Each watch in the collection is limited to a certain number which in total references the year Hawking’s ‘Brief History of Time’ was published – 1988. There are only 388 stainless steel and black dial, 88 rose gold and black dial or 88 white gold and blue dial watches to choose from.
Bremont’s first ever ladies’ watch
As part of the new collection, Bremont are releasing their first ever ladies’ timepiece to complement the 41mm men’s Hawking model. With a 34mm case size, dial made entirely from meteorite and sparkling diamond set bezel - the first time Bremont have ever used diamonds in their collections - it is the ultimate watch for those who love the universe and all its incredible formations.
On the case back you will find an intricately hand-finished automatic rotor which is inspired by the swirling of a black hole, along with a veneer of the oak from Hawking’s desk. Oh, and it’s also limited to just 88 pieces!
To make these watches even more special, part of the proceeds from the collection will go to the Stephen Hawking Foundation, a charity set up by Hawking’s family themselves which supports those who live with Motor Neurone Disease.
