Baselworld 2019 | New TAG Heuer Watches
We kicked off Baselworld 2019 with TAG Heuer, and what a way to start the next few watch-filled days.
With new Formula 1 and Carrera models for the ladies (which are extremely good looking, by the way), the big news from TAG Heuer was the new Autavia collection – complete with the brand’s much-discussed new carbon hairspring.

TAG Heuer Autavia Isograph
Reintroducing the Autavia as a collection in its own right, the new TAG Heuer Autavia models boast the versatility, ruggedness and reliability that characterised the original Autavias produced in the 1960s.
From 1933 – 1957, the Autavia was a dashboard instrument used in racing cars and aircraft; with the name itself coming from automobile and aviation. It then became a chronograph wristwatch in 1962, loved by racing enthusiasts and armed forces around the world.
Today, the Autavia makes use of the carbon-composite hairspring technology that distinguishes each piece as an Isograph.
What’s so special about TAG Heuer’s carbon hairspring?
The hairspring plays a very important role in watchmaking; regulating the timekeeping of mechanical watch movements together with the balance wheel.
TAG Heuer have created the world’s first carbon-composite hairspring; which is completely antimagnetic, virtually unaffected by gravity and shock – in cases when metal and silicone hairsprings have broke when falling onto a hard surface, the carbon-composite hairspring remained completely intact.
Our favourite from this new collection, you ask? Well, we adore the bronze model. Its almost-ombre dial and brown leather strap makes for a proper vintage feel.
