Find Your Love Language With These Unique Ways To Show Love
This Christmas, we’re all about helping you find the gift that says it all. We understand how hard it can be to find the words to express how you feel sometimes and this got us thinking…how many of us actually say ‘I love you’ to those who mean so much to us? And do we actually express our love in different ways other than verbally?
Did you know only 43% of Brits actually say ‘I love you’ to their partners every day? And only 17% say those three special words to their other half once a week! This might sound really low, but we know there are so many ways to tell someone you love them without actually saying those three words out loud.
From saying ‘I love you’ by putting your husband’s gloves on the radiator before you leave the house, to saying ‘I love you’ to your best friend by sending daily memes to make them smile, there are so many ways to express your love, without actually having to say anything at all. We asked you what’s your love language for the chance to win £1,000 in one of our Beaverbrooks stores and our hearts were melted by some of your entries. Here’s just some of our favourites (including our winner!)…
Little gestures
“The way I show my partner I love him deeply is through little everyday gestures of care, through laughing at his jokes and by helping him sort out his feelings, plans and ideas. We have our love rituals as well. I suspect his favourite such ritual is that every time he's feeling ill or very tired, I cook him a nice hearty soup by his Grandma's recipe. I want to make sure he finds a safe, happy refuge in our relationship as much as I do.” Alexandra Neagu
Keep dancing
“I'll blast old 2000's songs and get my sister to dance. We'll both be wearing sunnies and screaming our hearts out, no matter what time of night it is. Ultimate happiness.” Rachel McNeill
Surprise them at work
“I have always struggled to show my emotions regarding love. I communicate love to my partner through the unexpected use of sound. He owns a salon on a main road, every time I drive past I beep my horn and he jumps. I like to think his heart skips a beat, like mine does every time I see him. We have been together for 13 years and he still does not know it’s me. On occasion he will mention it, I think my love language has been a success!” John Draycott
Smile through the hard times
“Face coverings, aprons and gloves sadly form a disguise, so my Mum with dementia can't recognise her family. We smile and wave and show her signs, so she can see how our love shines through her window.” Kathryn Proto
Give a special gift
“The way in which I express my love to my boyfriend, is through gifts, this can be anything from buying us something matching, having a map made from the coordinates and alignment of the stars the night we first met, to naming a star after him, to booking a romantic weekend away.” Sinead Flynn

And the winner is…
“I make up little stories for my granddaughters. I put them in a card and do a drawing on the card of my granddaughters. These are bed time stories I hope they will keep for their children one day.” Lynn Dibb
We were very touched by Lynn’s lovely story and her creative love language. Do you get crafty to treat your favourite poeple? However you express your love, we want to hear about it.
