One to Watch | TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue
Swiss watch brand TUDOR are no strangers to exciting, global watch launches (think the TUDOR Black Bay GMT in 2018).
So, we were extremely thrilled to hear about the newest addition to the iconic TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight collection – the Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue, featuring a brand-new blue dial and blue bezel.
Created in 1926 by the founder of Rolex, Hans Wilsdorf, TUDOR benefits from Rolex’s watchmaking expertise and meticulous approach to quality, with these key attributes found throughout every TUDOR collection, including the Black Bay Fifty-Eight.
The TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight was first launched at Baselworld in 2018 and has since become somewhat of a cult watch amongst TUDOR fans and beyond.
The beauty of the watch lies in having a smaller and slimmer case size than previous chunky Black Bay watches. With a case size of 39mm, the same retro vintage detailing remains on the outside; however, on the inside - a brand new (at the time) in-house movement was fitted. The Black Bay Fifty-Eight is a perfect example of a modern update without losing any vintage or heritage charm.
Iconic detailing
So it will come as good news that this new TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue retains all the same iconic and instantly recognisable detailing, from the characteristic angular “snowflake” hands and the large winding crown, through to the same attractive 39mm case size.
COSC-certified movement
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue is also powered by the same Manufacture Calibre MT5402 in-house TUDOR movement, which has been designed to ensure robustness, longevity and reliability. It also features a 70-hour “weekend-proof” power reserve.
And, of course, it’s officially certified as a chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
So, what makes it new?
All-new, all-navy blue
This new navy blue model features a domed dial and a matching unidirectional rotatable bezel in steel, creating a striking all-navy blue finish. We are certainly a fan of the navy blue dialled look (check out our favourite blue-dialled watches here) and navy blue looks really, really good on the TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight – an already beautiful watch in its own right.
You can choose from three different strap options: a stainless steel bracelet, a soft touch strap or a blue fabric strap.
Here’s what our Head of Luxury Brands at Beaverbrooks, Bruce Andrews, had to say about it:
“We’re very excited about the launch of the TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue. The original Black Bay Fifty-Eight is such as popular timepiece so introducing a blue version is the natural step.
Personally, I love the all-blue finish on such an iconic TUDOR - it really is a stunning watch.”
