March's Birthstone | Everything You Need To Know About Aquamarine

What is the birthstone for March?

March’s birthstone is the beautiful aquamarine. Associated with courage, loyalty and friendship, aquamarine’s healing properties mean that it has been historically used to drive out negative emotions. Other properties of aquamarine include healing of emotional trauma, relieving stress and it’s also said to be wonderful for meditation.

Did you know? Sailors used the aquamarine gemstone to protect them whilst crossing oceans.

What is the birthstone for Pisces?

Aquamarine is the Pisces birthstone, for those with the Zodiac sign of Pisces (20th February – 20th March). The twelfth and final sign of the Zodiac, Pisces is one of three signs ruled by the water element; and with its reminiscence of crystal-clear waters and calming blue skies we can see why aquamarine makes the perfect gemstone for March babies.

Other Pisces birthstones include amethyst, ruby, sapphire, quartz and jade.

What is the colour aquamarine & what does it mean?

Exuding the tranquillity of the ocean, aquamarine is believed to keep you calm and peaceful. With its serene blue colour, we can definitely see why.

Aquamarine makes a stunning addition to jewellery because of its colour, associated with the ocean and clear seas. Varying in blue colour, from clear blue to slightly greenish blue hues, each aquamarine is completely unique making it such a special gift or treat to yourself. It’s also a member of the Beryl gemstone family, which emeralds also come from.

Mother’s Day is also celebrated in March (10h March 2024 to be exact!) and if you’re looking for an extra special Mother’s Day gift this year, aquamarine makes a thoughtful present for a special person in your life. Not only will they love it for its dazzling blue sparkle, but for its deeper meaning of courage and loyalty.

"Aquamarine is a gemstone that is known for its beautiful, light blue hues. Translated to ‘water of the sea’, the aquamarine stone is quite literally named after the sea. The bright blue sparkle complements diamonds perfectly." - Lorna, Head of Diamonds and Jewellery.
