In My Jewellery Box | Beth True
Our resident fashion icon Beth True, Assistant Buyer here at Beaverbrooks, is always one step ahead of the trends.
We caught up with her on how her love of jewellery began, her current jewellery box favourites and what new Beaverbooks pieces we should be wearing right now.
How did your love for jewellery and watches begin? Can you remember the first piece of jewellery you ever owned?
My mum has always been a jewellery lover. From being little I remember my dad always bought her beautiful jewellery for birthdays, Christmas and anniversaries. I used to love playing dress up with her collections as a child!
I started working in jewellery part time whilst at university, which is when I started to build my own collection. The first piece of jewellery I owned was a twisted silver ring that my Gran bought me as a gift for passing my grade one violin when I was 10!
What piece of jewellery do you wear the most?
Jewellery-wise, my Silver Rose Gold Plated Infinity Ring. I bought it to go with the matching bracelet and necklace, which I already had. I just love it because it goes with so many different things and I can wear it every day.
What’s your most special and sentimental piece of jewellery?
My mum’s engagement ring from my dad, which she gave to me last year. It’s a 9ct yellow gold brilliant cut solitaire, with some really lovely and unusual detail.
What’s your biggest splurge?
My Gucci watch. It’s a really old watch but it’s still the most expensive one I’ve got. That’s what I like about Gucci, their pieces are timeless but always iconic and on-trend.
What piece of Beaverbrooks jewellery are you currently lusting over?
I’m totally in love with our new Silver Cubic Zirconia Earring Jackets. They’ll definitely be my next purchase!
What watch and jewellery trend should we be looking out for?
We're seeing the mixed metal trend develop across many of our brands, in particular the combination of gorgeous greys and rose colours, such as grey dials with rose indices on watches.
Colour is another strong trend this year, in both watches and jewellery (read more on jewellery trends here). Take on the trend with coloured watch dials, coloured gemstone jewellery and mixed metal styles.
