One To Watch | Longines Record Collection

Since they were first established in 1832, Longines have built a reputation for themselves with their beautiful Swiss Made watches which perfectly embody their motto; ‘Elegance, Tradition and Performance’.

For over 100 years they have been famous for their precision timekeeping, particularly in the world of sport, where their high-tech innovation has changed the face of sporting timing systems.

However, 2018 sees Longines shifting up a gear; striving for even higher levels of accuracy with the new Longines Record collection.

Designed to celebrate their 185th anniversary, this exceptional showcase merges tradition with outstanding watchmaking expertise, to create Longines’ first collection which is completely C.O.S.C. chronometer certified.

What Does C.O.S.C Certified Mean?

The most rigorous test of accuracy, precision and performance; to become an officially certified C.O.S.C. chronometer, a watch must withstand a series of challenges which are arduous to say the least.

Tested over a period of 16 days, in five positions and three different temperatures, throughout all of these tests the movement must deviate by no more than -4/+6 seconds over 24 hours in order to achieve this highly sought-after status.

Deceptively simple, these sleek and stylish stainless steel watches are available in four sizes with a variety of dials, and prove that Longines are serious about creating reliable chronometers at affordable price points.

Classic Elegance and Excellence

Without a doubt, this outstanding collection has all the hallmarks of Longines’ iconic style. Take this classic design for example:

Showcasing watchmaking expertise in every aspect, this classic dress watch has all the sleek sophistication you would expect from the masters of elegance. And, although the movement is the real talking point of this collection, you can’t help but be drawn in by the sophisticated design on display here.

Given an elaborate style with a stainless steel bracelet and contrasting black dial, the watch showcases a sleek design for wearers with a love of traditional craftsmanship and outstanding functionality. A classic combination of colour, the watch features black subdials, with gold tone hands and Arabic numerals.

Mixed With Cutting Edge Technology

Designed to ensure maximum precision on a day to day basis; a peek through the sapphire crystal case back will reward you with plenty of perlage and cotes de Geneve, as well as a skeletonised ‘Wings of Longines’ logo on the rotor of this high-precision ETA automatic movement which is produced exclusively for Longines.

Whilst this super-accurate movement might not have the pedigree of an in-house movement, its technology is no less cutting-edge. For example, in a masterful blend of traditional watchmaking techniques and 21st-century technology, the Record’s revolutionary single-crystal silicon balance spring ensures that your watch will be unaffected by temperature variations, magnetic fields and atmospheric pressure - creating an automatic watch that is more precise than ever.
